Message from the President

It is my honor to welcome you on behalf of the Sam Cary Bar Association. As an organization rooted in excellence, service, and a commitment to social justice, the Sam Cary Bar Association continues to play an important role in strengthening our legal community and advancing opportunities for Black attorneys and law students. Our work is not only about the practice of law—it is about leadership, mentorship, professional development, and ensuring that our legal system reflects the communities we serve.

I am especially grateful for the dedication of our members, whose time, talent, and commitment make our association stronger. Through our collective efforts, we create meaningful connections, support the next generation of legal professionals, and advocate for a profession where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

As we look ahead, I encourage each of us to remain engaged, courageous, and committed to the values that have guided the Sam Cary Bar Association throughout its history. Together, we can continue to build a stronger profession, a more connected community, and a more just society.

Sam Cary Bar Association Announces Endorsement of Member Marcus Johnson for Denver County Court Judge

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Sam Cary Bar Association (SCBA) is pleased to announce that it has endorsed long time member, Marcus Johnson, as a candidate for Judge for Denver County. Attorney Johnson is one of six candidates to fill two positions recently vacated on the bench. Following a thorough review and interview process, the SCBA Judiciary Committee determined that Mr. Johnson’s distinguished legal career, unwavering commitment to public service, dedication to equal access to justice, and advocacy for historically underserved communities make him exceptionally qualified for this position.

The SCBA Judiciary Committee conducts a rigorous evaluation of candidates seeking its endorsement to ensure that only individuals with outstanding credentials, sound judgment, exemplary character, and a demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of the legal profession are recommended for judicial office. Central to our evaluation is a candidate’s commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and equal access to justice. The Committee also assesses whether candidates embody the values and mission of the SCBA, including professional excellence and meaningful engagement with marginalized communities.

Sam Cary Bar Association Announces New Board of Directors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DENVER, COLORADO — SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 — The Sam Cary Bar Association is pleased to announce its newly elected Board of Directors, who will serve the organization during the 2026–2027 term. The new leadership team brings together experienced legal professionals committed to advancing the Association’s mission of professional excellence, community engagement, mentorship, and equal access to justice.

Under the leadership of Natacha M. Gutierrez, President, the new Board will focus on strengthening the Association’s membership, expanding professional development opportunities, supporting law students and emerging attorneys, and continuing the Sam Cary Bar Association’s tradition of service to the legal profession and the broader community.

The Sam Cary Bar Association remains dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive legal community through advocacy, education, mentorship, networking, and community service. The new Board will work collaboratively with members, community partners, legal organizations, and other stakeholders to advance these priorities throughout the coming year.
